The round trip through the Pyrenees peninsula was my first trip on my own. It was the year 2004 and at that time I was studying at the University in Olomouc. Even two years before that I was in South Africa, but there I was accompanied by my classmate from my high school in Helsinki, Björn. I took the trip together with my friend Dušan. With the romantic impression that we will move through Spain via hitch hike and eat fresh fruit from trees, we bought only a one-way flight ticket to Madrid. During the landing we observed the brown (fruitful) agricultural fields which covered almost the whole peninsula. Only a few days later, when we got out of Madrid we discovered that those were burned fields by the sun. No surprise, by 37°C in shadow. Our travel conditions were very adventures. We slept on benches in parks, at gas stations on highway in in olive tree fields. Here I remember one story when we waked up at 6 a.m. due to a noise coming from heavy machinery. So I went out of the tent and I saw 200 m from us coming harvester, which chemically posted the olive trees. Although in the tent manual it says that you can fold the tent in 10 minutes, I swear that we made it under 2 minutes! J Regarding food, the fresh fruit was also a big mistake. Not that there were no, but all the oranges were wild growing. So our main course was instant chicken on paprika, pasta with cheese sauce and once a week Trenčín sausages with bens from a tin J. But it is true that here and then we bought a chorizo salami. Once we slept behind a hotels´ back entrance. Suddenly a cook run out a through a prosciutto leg in the garbage. Ok, I admit, there was still some meet on it…the rest you can imagine. But all together it was an amazing trip and I´m glad we have done it with Dušan…
